
Barbara Rodio is an accomplished violist whose chamber music experience includes collaborations with distinguished ensembles and innovative projects. She played chamber music concerts at important Festivals (Arsonore, Garda Lake Music Festival, Accademia Chigiana) and with famous musicians and ensambles (Markus Schirmer, Lidia Baich, Thomas Selditz, Oberton String Octet).
Since 2021, Barbara has been an integral member of the Eurydice String Quartet, founded at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. The quartet started its studies with Wendy and Matthias Enderle (Carmina Quartet) and has earned critical acclaim, including winning first prize in the “Malopolska International Music Competition” in Poland. Their performances took place in Italy and Austria, with appearances at festivals such as the Accademia Chigiana, Garda Lake Festival, Sacile Estate Musicale, and Arte Classica, as well as notable venues like the Ligeti Saal in Graz. The quartet has collaborated with esteemed musicians like Kerstin Feltz, Clive Greensmith (Tokyo Quartet), Florian Schötz (Goldmund Quartet), Fabio Fornaciari.
The Eurydice String Quartet is also part of Le dimore del quartetto network.
In April 2025, the Eurydice String Quartet will make its opera debut at the Graz Opera in the production Mein Lieblingstier heißt Winter (novel by Ferdinand Schmalz and music by Lukas Kranzelbinder). Additionally, the ensemble will begin a chamber music master's program at the Kunstuniversität Graz under the guidance of Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet), further solidifying its reputation as a versatile and dynamic ensemble.
She has been a member of the Minz Quartett, formed in 2022 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where the group studied with Florian Schötz (Goldmund Quartet). The quartet has participated in workshops with renowned artists such as Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) and Avri Levitan (Musethica) and has performed at prestigious events, including the swearing-in ceremony of Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen in 2023.
Barbara is also the creator of "Verklärte Nacht Unveiled," a unique interdisciplinary project that combines Arnold Schönberg's string sextet Verklärte Nacht with a choreography for two dancers. The project, first presented in the KlangBildKlang series and the Schönberg150 celebrations, explores themes of transformation, connection, and human expression, offering audiences a deeply immersive experience. “Verklärte Nacht Unveiled” remains an active and adaptable production, available for performances.
